Valayapatti A.R.Subramaniam is one of the stalwarts in the field of percussion.His masterful playing on the Thavil has earned for him plaudits in the national and international diaspora.The recipient of innumerable and Thavil Ulaga Sooriyan among others are veritable tributes to the genius of Valayapatti Subramanium. He has been awarded 'PADMASREE' by the president of India in the year 2007.The Thavil has no basic shruthi.Yet,when Subramaniam plays on the instrument one gets the feeling that there is absolute shruthi unison and perhaps this aspect of his art prompted the Bheeshma Pitha Maha of Carnatic music Shemmangudi Srinivasa Iyer to refer to him as Nandi incarnate.

Vidwan Thirupathi V.Sathyanarayana has created waves in the art of Nagaswaram for the past nearly three decades.His Guru was the reputed Nagaswara Vidwan of Ongole,N.Rangaiyyah.His instrumental expression with a rich traditional bearing,clean powerful blowing and embedded in aesthetics has made an effective impact in the minds of connoisseurs of carnatic music.He is currently a lecturer in the Thriupati Sri Venkateshwara Nagaswara Thavil college. He has a carnatic music Nagaswaram diploma from the Vishakapatnam,Andhra university.He has been awarded the title of 'Raga Ranjitha Nagaswara Ratna' by the Veda Parayana committee in jamshedpur.
