Tracing its origin to the temple dances of the ‘Devadasis’ (temple dancers), Odissi is full of grace and charm that is glorified by the performer. This dance form from Orissa diligently portrays the aesthetic charm of ‘Abhinaya’ (acting) and the brilliance of Nritta, (dance) in a way of its own.

With majority of the themes from Jayadeva’s ‘Geeta Govinda’, dominated by feelings of love and devotion, Odissi serves as the ideal abode for expressing them to the fullest.
